Facilities Management ‘Critical Friend’ assignment: GACL have been employed to work with a client as a ‘critical friend’. Essentially this involved reviewing Facilities Management proposals for a new national FM opportunity with a government department and making suggestions to ensure that a ‘Best in Class’ Facilities Management service would be delivered.

FM Contract Review: Comprehensive review of soft FM contracts for university campus. Commission included meeting with Campus Services Managers to gauge their knowledge and understanding of the contracts in place and the commercial and performance targets that needed to be delivered. Paper submitted to Director of Estates setting out recommendations for commercial changes, training of team and improvement to business procedures. Following the review a number of contracts were retendered by the university and GACL delivered a number of customer service training courses for front line staff. Ideas generated from the workshops were captured and documented for the Director of Estates to use as part of a future development plan.

Health Sector transfer of services: GACL have supported a client for a period of six months with programme management and project management resources to ensure the smooth transition of three FM services back to a NHS Trust. GACL were asked to establish a detailed programme of activity, work with client and trust teams to deliver this programme of work and report weekly on progress.

Innovation Workshops: GACL supported their client with a review their procedures for managing and reporting on KPI’s in order to innovate their approach. Workshops help with internal team and service partners to enable a clear brief of requirements to be established.

University Tenant Review: GACL have worked with a client to undertake a review of their tenant management procedures (50+ separate tenants) in order to move from a paper based system to a position where all tenant data is help on the CAFM system.  The scope of this project included reviewing all lease information, reviewing management reporting requirements, setting up an annual review of all tenant health and safety information and agreeing trigger dates for key activities to be undertaken throughout the year. GACL had to liaise with the university estates team, property advisors, tenants and an external IT provider in order to scope the project and then facilitate meetings to drive the project programme.

European Facilities Management Mobilisation: GACL supported a client with the mobilisation of a European facilities management contract. Two members of the team worked for a period of 12 weeks supporting our client in their London offices. This contract spanned 14 countries with soft and hard FM services being delivered to 70 sites totalling 237,000 sqm.

GACL provided interim facilities management support in Paris for a period of 3 months to help client to maintain service whist recruiting a full time FM.

National Review of Grounds Maintenance: Working for a National FM provider GACL undertook a review of grounds maintenance services for c6000 buildings across the UK. The review included working with the client procurement and operational teams to agree a detailed scope of works, Service Level Agreements prior to meeting with UK wide grounds maintenance contractors in order to pre-qualify them for a tender exercise. GACL managed and reported on the tender exercise before submitting a costed options paper to the Operations Director.

Programme & Project Management Support: GACL have been employed to undertake a programme management role for Carillion (FM partner) working in Swindon on the Nationwide account. This role is supporting Carillion with the strategic delivery or projects, managing the in house project team and helping to plan resources and project delivery methodologies for the 2014-15 financial year. During this assignment GACL have supported Carillion with project management support to complete handover of projects and to assist with delivering a wide range of relocation projects across the UK.

St Albans City & District Council

Project Management: GACL were employed by Plan B Soultions Limited to assist with a space planning and agile working project for St Albans City & District Council. GACL helped with the compilation of the project brief meeting with internal and external stakeholders and communicating updates to both Plan B Solutions Limited and St Albans City & District Council Head of Estates. GACL also assisted with the appointment of the construction project manager and QS to ensure a smooth handover of the project brief into the build phase of the project.

Management Training and Event Management: GACL have been instrumental in delivering a number of management training sessions with facilities management teams including customer service, commercial awareness, health and safety (specific company related training and general health and safety refresher courses). In addition to these training courses GACL have delivered over twenty facilities management training days for 70+ delegates in hotel locations for the British Institute of Facilities Managers South West Region. The topics for these days have included, Property Strategy, People Management and Employment Law, Essential FM Compliance, Catering best practice, Business Continuity, Hard FM Management and Communication in Business.
